Vesna Kuzmic is a Slovenian film, television, and theatre actress based in Madrid.
Her recent screen appearances include the upcoming Polish feature film Dziki, directed by Maciej Kawulski (world premiere January 2026), where she plays the Mother of the Children; the Slovenian feature Gaja’s World by Peter Bratuša, in which she portrays Nurse Maria (filming wrapped August 2025); and the Spanish short film 07:59, directed by Manu Cuevas, where she stars in the lead role as Lia (currently in post-production).
As a freelancer, Vesna has worked with several theatres in Slovenia, including Mini Theatre and the Slovene National Theatre Maribor, and has also collaborated with Maladype Theatre in Budapest. In 2019, she received the Best Actress Award at the 32nd International Theatrical Festival VALISE in Poland for her performance in The Little Match Girl at Mini Theatre.
Vesna earned her BA in Acting and MA in Speech Arts from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film, and Television (AGRFT) in Ljubljana, followed by a second MA in Acting at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS in Moscow. Her master’s dissertation on improvisation in acting, comparing Russian Theatre School techniques with Method acting, was later published in the Slovenian cinema magazine KINO!.
After completing her studies in Russia, Vesna spent five years building her career in Slovenia, working across film, television, and theatre before relocating to Madrid to expand her international career. One of her first Spanish-language performances was the title role in Mia (Microteatro Madrid, 2023), a powerful piece addressing the cycle of domestic abuse.
Vesna speaks Slovenian, English, Russian, and Serbian fluently, and has intermediate proficiency in Spanish. She is currently involved in several new projects, including the ongoing Slovenian television series Nemirna kri, in which she plays Young Olga, as well as two Spanish collaborations with director Stefan M. Mladenović —the feature film República Zoo, where she will appear as Mila, and the short film Caridad Romana, where she will star as Pero, both currently in development.
